Construction Log for RV-7 N395CL - Fuselage (Page 1) - 3/8/08 - 4/12/08

BRAKES / RUDDER PEDALS -

Fab'd / Driver / Riveted / Primed the Rudder Pedals -

Installed on the Rudder Pedals using a single AN3-56 Bolt on each

Closeup -

Mounted and drilled the Brake Cylinders - came out nearly perfect in alignment.

Sanded / Polished the Rudder Pedal mount points -

FUSELAGE FLOORS -

Removed all QB installed panels -

Installed conduit under the baggage and aft seat floors -

Fabbed / Primed / Riveted the Elevator bellcrank -

Pop Riveted the Baggage Floors -

Another angle -

Pop-riveted the aft seat floors

Fab'd the shoulder harness wear blocks -

Installed the wear blocks on the baggage bulkhead -

Fabbed and installed the rudder cable fairing on both sides -

Creating the seat back position mounts -

Ready for riveting -

Fully installed and ready for the seats -

Cutting the aluminum angle for the seats -

 

Drilling the angle to the seat backs -

Testing fitting the bottom hinge attachment -

Lots of seat parts to prime..

Seat back braces riveted and installed -

Seats installed and Done!

Almost done... Well, not really.

Center baggage floor cover

Flap weldment fitting

Flap weldment drilled and fitted with temp bolts -

Rudder pedal brace drilled and installed -

Flap actuator cover riveted-

... and fitted to fuselage -

Mount points for the actuator -

Actuator installed and tested with 12V battery. Goes up and down just fine.

Center Cover fab / install -

Flap pushrods fab'd with thicker hex material

Installed Elevator pushrod ends

Drilling firewall for brake line fittings

Plate pro-sealed and riveted with Fittings installed.

Bending vents on center covers -

Completed bends for heater vent on the center cover

Another shot with the center covers installed.

Aileron Trim fab'd and temporarily installed.

Fitted to thru the seat cover -

Center Cover Fab'd and temporarily installed.

Center Cover fully installed. This is the second try so that there were now no gaps between in the Z-channel / top sheet and the vertical flap actuator panel.

Installed the small elevator pushrod - piece of cake as long as you install the second end bearing once in place.

Large elevator push rod prosealed, riveted, and installed.

Control sticks hooked up temporarily - required lots of trimming on the brass bushings.

Fitting the wing tank mounting bracket.

Bracket angles riveted in place with bolts installed

Brackets installed with temp bolts, probably sending this part to the powdercoater for extra corrosion protection.

Andair fuel value install - Cut the mounting plate per the instructions

Looks good!

Forward spar gussets installed and torqued

Spar cover brackets drilled and cleco'd

Brackets pop riveted in place

Covers in place- no major fit issues here - just lots of trimming...

Filling the gap between the fuel selector and the the housing -

Fully installed - looks good without the gap there.
