This belt sander is invaluable for shaping stiffeners
Stiffeners clecoed to the skins
Assembling the skeleton
Fitting the skeleton to the rudder skins
Cleco'd the structure together
Riveted skeleton including nutplates
Assembling skeleton
Attached rudder counterweight
Riveting the skins to the skeleton
Aluminum specific silicon for stiffener joints
Cleco'd the edge to aluminum and steel angle after applying proseal to the edge
Very straight edge, but some scalloping due to the dreaded AEX wedge
Slight gap 1/32-1/16 along the trailing edge - will be filled and faired with fiberglass before painting.
Bending the leading edge on the rudder - the steel pipe and rods make this a piece of cake.
