Construction Log for RV-7 N395CL - Trim Tab - 11/5/07 - 11/20/07
Creating Trim Servo Mount
Alignment looks good...
Ready for riveting
Trim Servo sub-component riveted and complete.
Trim tab bends on the outboard end
Looks pretty darn good to me - especially for the first try!
Starting the inboard ends
Finishing the outboard ends.
Initial line up on the trim tab - not the slight dents on both sides from the bending blocks - not major, just a bit of fiberglass fill...
Trim tab final riveting - all solid rivets on the bottom thanks to the longeron yoke.
Drilling the trim tab hinge on the elevator
Riveting the hinge to the right elevator
Final trim tab installed
Errrgg - one minor bump in the road - the dimple die created a small hump on the mid edge of the trim tab. Not major, so i'll probably just fiberglass this area over a bit.
Trim tab end - a few nicks, but not bad for the first one - I think I will probably keep it and be welcomed to the less than perfect, but still pretty good, FIRST TRY TRIM TAB CLUB!!! ;)
Trim Tab gap - 3/32 - 1/8 thickness as per spec
Starting to roll the elevators (see rudder page for more details)
Completed Leading edge rolling
Installed rod bearings
Fitting and cutting the trim servo rod
Completed elevator / trim tab assembly
All done and looking great!
